RONK’S KITCHEN
CROCK POT & SLOW COOKER
Slow Cookers are a burn-proof (usually) cooking method. An easy method to
cook delicious, great flavored meals for your family without the need to
actually be standing in your kitchen during the process. Assemble it the
evening before, refrigerate overnight, turn it on as you leave for work and
enjoy when you come back home. MANY of the “Stovetop” Recipes in this site
may be EASILY converted to a Slow Cooker Recipe. Most slow cookers have an
easily washable heavy ceramic liner that retains heat even when off. There
are many brands and options available for you to select from. Since I mostly
use mine for easy to reheat as a dish-to-pass container, I prefer a unit with a
locking lid to prevent spillage while transporting in the car. I also own several
different sizes, from a small 1 quart unit for dips and toppings up to a large 7
quart model for Soups & Casseroles. Most units have high and low cooking
temperatures and a keep-warm to keep the dish hot during serving. Models
available are the “original” lower quality slow cooker (Crock-Pot) to
Hamilton Beach, Cuisinart, etc. up to the highly rated All-Clad. Available
plastic bag liners will help to make clean-up a snap & a silicone bottom
protector to prevent burning if re-heating.
